Jack
and Hitler Comparison
In
the novel, Lord of the Flies, by
William Golding, A group of kids landed on an island because of an airplane
crash they were involved in. However, there is one boy, Jack, which is evil and
is very disrespectful. Adolf Hitler and jack are both dictators. They both use
violence to control people, limit free speech, and steal powers of others.
Hitler
and Jack used violence to control people. The page “The Holocaust,” states, “The
Nazi’s purpose in building these camps was to carry out the systematic murder
of European Jewry as part of the final solution.” (3). Hitler killed people
that did not agree with him. He even went as far as to build camps to eliminate
those people Golding writes, “They made us. They hurt us… we couldn’t help it.”
(2). Jack allowed Roger to hurt Samneric because he wanted Samneric to join his
tribe. Hitler and Jack used violence to eliminate those who challenged them.
They rule with fear.
Jack
and Hitler bother limit free speech. Hitler would burn books and censor things
in Nazi Germany. The “History Learning” site, states, “censorship ensured that
Germans could only see what the Nazi hierarchy wanted people to see, hear what
they wanted them to hear and read only what the Nazi’s deemed acceptable.” (1) Hitler
censored things because he wanted his voice to only be heard. No one could
stand up to him if they could not speak. Golding writes, “The conch doesn’t work
on this end of the island” (2). Jack always wanted to hear his own voice and be
the center of attention. He did not want the boys listening to Ralph. Jack and
Hitler always wanted to be the ones in charge and always wanted to be the ones
heard.
Jack
and Hitler both stole power. “The Holocaust Explained” site states that Hitler
took, “The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Denmark, Yugoslavia,
Greece, Norway, and Western Poland.” (4) Hitler wanted more land and power. Therefore,
he took over the nine countries. Golding writes,” … He was a chief now in truth
and he made stabbing motion with his spear. From his left and dangled Piggy’s
broken glasses.” (2). Jack stole all of Ralph’s power because without the
glasses, they cannot make fire or escape. Jack and Hitler had many people that
feared them and helped them keep their power.
They
both used violence to control people, limit free speech, and steal power of
others. Jack and Hitler are evil. They only care about themselves and hurt others.
